What a glorious day. Men and women woke up today knowing what they had to face. The date had been planned, the warriors prepped. The tools of conquest had been gathered over the years, finally culminating to this final clash. I'm sure you have guessed by now but I'm talking about: the AP tests.
Why so theatrical in my portrayal? Because this is seriously how I picture it in my head. For me, the AP tests are battles in a war. It may be hard to fathom the intense betrayal I felt when I decided not to take the Government test.
You may be wondering why I feel this way. Well it all started last year when I took 5 AP tests. The solidarity I felt with my fellow student while studying (cramming the day before) was amazing. You could say it is similar to when a sports player is pumped before a game. I felt it was an obstacle I must destroy.
I can't say it is limited to that. I also liked how people realized the task we were going through. People all know the AP test and have respect for the people that face it. Teachers were more lenient, others more respecting. Dedicating weeks to a cause really provides a sense of hype.
Finally I have to say truly AP tests are a struggle against myself. See if I can push myself to the limits, both mind and body. Last year I took the Calc BC test even though I never took the class and my AB teacher...let's just say I could have benefited from some more assistance. This year I wrote for 2 hours using a messed up hand, and later I will have the audacity to take the Stats test, a class I have never taken before.
These tests are a struggle, and when somebody struggles they gain respect. Respect for their fellow peers, respect for the test, and respect for themselves. I know anybody reading this will probably think I'm crazy, but anybody taking an AP test is my brother (or sister) in arms. Know that I have been in your position, and so have students all across the country and in times past. Know that you are part of a legacy, a tradition. You bring in only what you know, and that is all you need. Good luck to anybody that still has AP test left, and may your successes only be limited by the courage in your hearts.
Tomy be crazy!
ReplyDeleteTaking those AP tests without even taking the classes. Well, at least Tomy be duh genius so it don't matter much. I sure you do well with AP Stats! Hopefully you will pull off 6 or something like that!
